Respiratory Risk Report
Week ending in July 4, 2026
Biobot’s national wastewater network has detected an uptick in SARS-CoV-2 levels, driven by increases in the Midwest, South, and West. This could be an early signal of a summer wave, though it is still too soon to know whether the trend will hold.
RSV, after a recent uptick, is now declining across all four regions and remains low overall.
Influenza A, influenza B, and HMPV are also at low levels, with activity either holding steady or declining.
Bottom Line
We are keeping our eye on SARS-CoV-2 to see if the upward trend holds. The reassuring news is that RSV, flu, and HMPV remain low or are declining.
If you’re traveling, heading to large indoor events, or spending time with older adults, babies, pregnant people, or someone who is immunocompromised, it’s still a good time to pay attention to local viral activity.
