Respiratory Risk Report
Week ending in August 8, 2026
Biobot’s national wastewater network continues to show SARS-CoV-2 increasing across the country. The West is seeing the sharpest rise, followed by the South. There are some week-to-week fluctuations, but overall, the summer Covid wave is still growing.
Everything else is pretty quiet. RSV, influenza A, influenza B, and HMPV are all circulating at very low levels, with activity either stable or declining.
Bottom line
Covid is circulating at higher levels right now, so it’s worth paying attention to. A a little extra awareness can go a long way, especially if you’re traveling, heading into a crowded indoor space, or spending time with someone at higher risk of severe illness, including older adults, babies, pregnant people, and people who are immunocompromised.
The good news is that flu, RSV, and HMPV activity remains low.
